Historical overview of BT Federal
1957 – Control Data founded by Williams C. Norris. For the next 32 years, Control Data emerged as the computer industry’s premier supplier of high-performance scientific and engineering systems. Control Data’s first customer is the US Department of Defense.
1976 – Control Data designs the AN/AYK-14. The AN/AYK-14 is the designated Navy Standard Airborne Computer and is used for mission computing, navigation, targeting, and onboard data processing and is used in many aircraft including all F/A-18 aircraft.
1989 – Control Data ceased manufacturing its own computers and transforms to systems integration.
1989 – Control Data wins an 11-year contract with the Army Corps of Engineers as the prime contractor for its automation plan project to improve productivity for the Corps. This successful relationship included building a three-tiered enterprise solution that encompassed delivery-system hardware, specialized applications software, and networking.
1992 – Control Data’s separates into two independent businesses – Control Data Systems, an open systems integrator, and Ceridian Corporation, an information services company.
1992 – Control Data develops directory and messaging technologies.
1993 – Syntegra emerges from BT as a separate entity and for the next six years acquires S.I.S.L., Rijnhaave Groep, First State Computing, Europe Informatique, Alcoria Consulting, BTNA Trading Systems
1999 – BT Group buys Control Data Systems (press release) and integrates the company under its Syntegra organization. Control Data's industry leading products and services become an important part of Syntegra's global expansion plans.
2000 – Control Data Federal is formed to allow continued support of existing solutions in the Federal Government.
2003 – Control Data Federal is renamed Syntegra Federal, an American-based consulting and systems integration company dedicated to addressing the issues of the U.S. Federal Government.
2004– BT Syntegra achieves Cisco Gold Status in the United States.
2004– BT Group merges all business units under the name BT. Syntegra Federal is renamed BT Federal and offers the global IT and networking capabilitis and experience of the entire BT Group in support of programs for the US Federal Government.
