Former CIA Officer Will Lead Washington Office of Syntegra Federal

Washington, D.C. , May 8, 2003 – Ronald Marks has been named as the new director of federal business development for Syntegra Federal, a consulting and systems integration company with expertise in designing, delivering and managing large-scale government information technology projects.

“Syntegra Federal was formerly Control Data, a prominent name in technology for more than four decades,” said Tom Casey, vice president for U.S. government at Syntegra.  “As a trusted partner with a new name, Syntegra Federal is preparing to launch into the federal marketplace, and Ron has the expertise and the winning track record to help us succeed.”

Marks, a 20-year Washington veteran, will head Syntegra’s Washington office.  Prior to joining Syntegra, he served as director of intelligence program development for SRA International.  In that position, he marshalled company resources for its first successful full court press into intelligence programs at the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security and the Central Intelligence Agency.

Marks also served as a senior intelligence advisor at SAIC where he was part of a team that revolutionized how the U.S. intelligence community developed its satellite technology plans.

Prior to joining industry, Marks served at the CIA for 16 years.  During that time, he was liaison to the U.S. Senate, serving five different CIA directors.  On Capitol Hill, he served as intelligence counsel to Senate Majority Leaders Robert Dole and Trent Lott.  He further served as a program manager at the Department of State and special assistant for intelligence community support to the U.S. military.

Marks has written and commented extensively on national security issues in the Washington Times, US News and World Report, Insight Magazine, Washington Quarterly and the Cambridge University International Review.

Marks received a dual bachelor’s degree in business administration and economics from Lewis and Clark College and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Oregon.  He is a member of the Center for Strategic and International Studies Transnational Threats Board, the board of editors for the National Institute for Public Policy, and the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA).
