Control Data Becomes Syntegra Federal
Government Computing Pioneer gets New Life as Homeland Security Systems Integrator
Washington D.C. – May 13, 2003 – Syntegra Federal today launched a major foray into the federal marketplace, completing the transition from Control Data, announcing a new project for the Department of Homeland Security and significantly increasing its presence in Washington with the addition of seasoned leadership.
“At this time of increased need for integrated, secure computing infrastructure, Syntegra Federal offers the delivery strength of a $1 billion global operations with the trust and know-how developed over a half century of government service,” said Ron Marks, a long time senior official with the Central Intelligence Agency who will now lead Syntegra Federal’s efforts.
From its first contract with the Department of Defense in 1957 as Control Data, to its most recent projects for the Army Corps of Engineers, NASA and the U.S. Coast Guard, Syntegra Federal has been instrumental in technology development in the federal government.
In its most recent example of leadership in solving complex systems integration problems, Syntegra Federal today announced that it is designing and building the messaging system for the Department of Homeland Security through an agreement with prime government contractor, PEC Solutions.
“I appreciate this opportunity to provoke a thoughtful dialogue on homeland security and the business of government,” said Frank Cilluffo, former Special Assistant to the President and now counselor at the Center for the Study of the Presidency.
In his first major remarks since leaving the White House, Cilluffo, stated that only when federal departments and agencies, state and local governments, the private sector and the American people work together, and apply cutting edge technology to communicate effectively, can the United States effectively combat terrorism. "To be connected literally and otherwise is to be more secure," Cilluffo added.
